The smoke from cooking with a three stone fire or charcoal stove exceeds the toxicity of smoking hundreds of cigarettes per day.

These hazardous emissions cause more people to die each year from Household Air Pollution than from HIV, TB, or malaria in Tanzania. Household Air Pollution (HAP) is the leading cause of disease burden and the second leading cause of morbidity and mortality in Tanzania – especially children under 5.

Our Fuel+Stacked Stove System has the lowest emissions profile of any clean solid biomass cookstove venture in the world. With Supamoto, households are eliminating the use of deadly stoves that have been used for millenia, replaced by stacked fan gasifying stoves to reduce death and disease.

TIneffecient deadly stoves have created a national wood deficit of 1 million tons/year. This deficit is accelerating, set to reach 2 million tons per year by 2020.

These woodfuels are used by 99% of all Tanzanian households for cooking. Tanzania will eventually be unable to supply itself with cooking fuel from its forests.

Used at a national scale, the Mimimoto Fuel+Stove System will reverse this wood deficit.

Mimimoto’s Fuel+Stacked Stove System also reduces Green House Gases emitted while cooking. At scale, Mimimoto will reduce CO2 emissions by millions of tons per year.

Rural Tanzanian households spend hours everyday searching for suitable firewood. Urban Tanzanians buy charcoal, a non-sustainable fuel with limited supply that jumps in price every year as demand increases.

Due to inneficient combustion of this fuel, both demographics spend inordinate amounts of time tending flames and continually feeding more fuel.

Supamoto’s Rural Customers spend less time collecting less wood, leaving more time to run the farm, take care of children, or go to school. For our Urban Customers, the cost of cooking with Supamoto is comparable to or less than that of cooking with charcoal, and with a host of design upgrades in the pipeline, tremendous savings are on the horizon.

Facilitating investment in the development of a national energy infrastructure is an urgent and ongoing priority of Tanzania. Supamoto Fuel Pellets are a home-grown, clean burning source of energy designed to meet the needs of every Tanzanian, every day.
